December 10th, Human Rights Day, commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The UDHR laid the foundation for a series of widely ratified human rights treaties, which form much of the structure of international human rights law today

Celebrating Icelandic Language Day in Winnipeg

This year an Icelandic Language Day celebration will be held at the Scandinavian Cultural Centre in Winnipeg on November 12th at 6:30pm. The focus of the celebration will be on how young people in Canada can be introduced to Icelandic culture and the Icelandic language through the Snorri Programs and the Youth Mobility Agreement between Canada and Iceland. There will be a presentation on the Icelandic Special Collection at the University of Manitoba. Of course there will be musical performances.
