      Iceland's support for Ukraine reaches one billion ISK

      Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir attended the High-Level International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine which took place in Warsaw earlier this month. At the conference, Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir announced a significant increase in Iceland's humanitarian and economic assistance to Ukraine with an additional contribution of 425 million ISK. The announcement brings Iceland's total contributions to date to ISK one billion, equivalent to about €7.2 million.

      Increased support for UNICEF, UN Women and UNFPA

      The subject of Minister for Foreign Affairs Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir’s meetings with the leaders of the United Nations this week was Iceland’s participation in and support for the United Nations, as well as the war in Ukraine. During those meetings, the Minister also announced that this year Iceland will increase its contributions to UNICEF, UN Women and UNPFA. These organisations are all key partners in Iceland’s international development cooperation.
