06 March 2026 / Ministry for Foreign Affairs Statements Statement on the decisions by the International Paralympic Committee related to the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden firmly condemn the recent decision by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games under their national flags, also allowing the display of their anthems and state symbols. This decision undermines international efforts to isolate Russia and Belarus in response to Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine. We also deplore the decision by the IPC to prohibit Ukrainian athletes from wearing costumes featuring a map of Ukraine

The Arctic region

The Arctic region Ministry for Foreign Affairs Arctic issues have in recent years become ever more prominent internationally as well as domestically. The discussion on the changing Arctic and it´s relationship with climatic change, discussions on the utilisation and protection of natural resources, continental shelf and sovereignty demands, societal changes and the opening of new seaways is an will be of interest today and in the future. It is clear that few states have a greater interest in the sustainable development of the area than Iceland, since all of the country and a large part of its territorial waters lie within the boundaries of the Arctic region

18 February 2026 / Ministry for Foreign Affairs Statements Joint Ministerial Statement on Protection of Civilians and Humanitarian Operations in Sudan We express grave concern over the continued deadly unlawful attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure and humanitarian operations as heavy fighting across the Kordofan and Darfur States continues. The recent severe escalation in drone and aerial attacks including those affecting displaced civilians, health facilities, food convoys and areas near humanitarian compounds have resulted in a significant number of civilian deaths and injuries and is further disrupting humanitarian access and supply lines.
