Gender Equality & Geothermal Energy highlighted by the President of Iceland while in China

In her visit to Beijing, President Halla Tómasdóttir underlined gender equality and geothermal energy as key elements in meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

At a Fireside chat with Kelsey Cheng, News Chief at Caixin Global, she talked about the success and future potentials of the use of geothermal energy to mitigate climate change, the leading role of women in driving the renewable energy agenda and the green energy transitions and the importance of progressive leadership of business in a changing world.

The event was at the Embassy of Iceland and was attended by public officials, business representatives, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations, universities, research organizations and think tanks.

The President also visited the Icelandic geothermal energy company Arctic Green Energy which has joint venture with Sinopec which provides geothermal house heating for 70 cities in China, reducing China´s carbon footprint and improving air quality and quality of life in urban areas.
