Minister of Social Affairs and Housing

Ragnar Þór has served as Minister of Social Affairs and Housing since 11 January 2026. He has been a Member of Parliament since 2024 and has chaired the parliamentary group of the People’s Party since 2025.

Born in Reykjavík on 17 May 1973. Parents: Dagný Guðmundsdóttir (born 23 October 1951, died 23 November 2018), nursing assistant, and Ingólfur Þ. Jónsson (born 9 August 1950), driver and salesman. Spouse: Guðbjörg Ingunn Magnúsdóttir (born 22 February 1980), ministerial assistant. Her parents are Magnús Traustason and Þorbjörg Halldóra Gunnarsdóttir.
Children of Ragnar Þór with Guðbjörg M. Kristjánsdóttir: Daði Már (2000), Daníel Dúi (2004), and Sóley Dís (2009). Stepchildren, children of Guðbjörg Ingunn: Logi Þór (2008) and Emma Lísa (2012).
