Absentee voting abroad: Referendum 2026
Voting outside of a polling station abroad is carried out at:
- Icelandic embassies and consulates general
- Icelandic permanent missions to international organizations
- Icelandic consuls according to a further decision by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Voters are advised to familiarize themselves with the opening hours of embassies and electoral consulates. See a list of opening hours and contact information on the side.
Please note that if a voter votes outside of a polling station, they are personally responsible for delivering their vote. Voters can ask the returning officer to place their vote in a general mail box, but this does not guarantee that the vote will be delivered in time.
