      Einreisebestimmungen für Deutsche bzw. andere EU/EWR-StaatsbürgerInnen

      Island gehört zum Schengen-Raum und zum Europäischen Wirtschaftsraum (EWR).

      Deutsche StaatsbürgerInnen und andere StaatsbürgerInnen des EU/EFTA-Raumes brauchen kein Visum für die Einreise und dürfen nach Island reisen, solange sie einen gültigen Ausweis haben.

      Für diese StaatsbürgerInnen ist die Einreise mit dem Personalausweis auch möglich. Der Reisepass bzw. Personalausweis muss nur während des Aufenthaltes in Island gültig sein.

      Einreise mit Kindern

      Für die Einreise von minderjährigen Kindern mit z. B. nur einem Elternteil reicht eine formlose Einverständniserklärung der Eltern in englischer Sprache. Dies ist z. B. beim ADAC erhältlich. Das Kind sollte unbedingt Passkopien der Eltern mit sich führen. Eine Beglaubigung ist nicht nötig.

      Entry for German citizens and citizens of other EU/EEA-countries

      Iceland is a part of the Schengen-area of Europe and the European Economic Area (EEA).

      Citizens of Germany and citizens of countries of the EU/EEA area do not need a visa to travel to Iceland and are able to do so, as long as they have a valid travel document.

      Travel to Iceland with an EU/EEA ID-card

      An ID-card is also valid as a travel document for citizens of these countries. Either the passport or the ID-card must simply remain valid during their stay in Iceland.

      Traveling with Children

      For children traveling to Iceland with only one guardian for example, an informal declaration of consent from the parents in English is sufficient. This can be obtained from the ADAC. The child should also carry copies of the parents' passports or IDs with them. Notarization is not necessary.

      Staatsbürgerinnen und Staatsbürger eines nicht-EU/EWR-Staates, mit einem gültigen deutschen Aufenthaltstitel bzw. Aufenthaltserlaubnis, welches befristet oder unbefristet sein kann, oder einem entsprechenden Aufenthaltstitel aus einem anderen EU/EWR-Land, können ohne zusätzliches Visum nach Island reisen.

      Dies gilt auch für Touristen mit einem gültigen Schengen-Visum.

      Reiseausweis für Ausländer / Flüchtlinge

      Reiseausweis für Ausländer und Reiseausweis für Flüchtlinge, die von deutschen Behörden ausgestellt sind, können statt eines nationalen Reisepasses verwendet werden. Der Reiseausweis muss nur während der Reise gültig sein.

      Fiktionsbescheinigung

      Eine in Deutschland ausgestellte Fiktionsbescheinigung nach § 81 Art. 4 wird als Aufenthaltserlaubnis anerkannt.

      Aufenthaltstitel noch nicht auf den neuen Reisepass übertragen

      Staatsbürgerinnen und Staatsbürger eines nicht-EU/EWR-Staates, die mit einem neuen Reisepass nach Island reisen wollen, deren Aufenthaltstitel aber noch nicht von ihrem alten Reisepass übertragen wurde, können dies trotzdem tun, wenn sie den alten Reisepass mitbringen, in dem ihre Aufenthaltstitel noch enthalten ist.

      Entry for citizens of non-EU/EEA states

      Iceland is a part of the Schengen-area of Europe and the European Economic Area (EEA).

      Citizens of a non-EU/EEA country with a valid German residence permit, which may be temporary or permanent, or a corresponding residence permit from another EU/EEA country, can travel to Iceland without an additional visa.

      This also applies to tourists who have a valid Schengen visa.

      The passport or travel document of non-EU/EEA citizens must remain valid for at least three months beyond their stay in Iceland.

      Reiseausweis für Ausländer / Flüchtlinge

      Reiseausweis für Ausländer and Reiseausweis für Flüchtlinge issued by German authorities may be used instead of your national passport. It must only be valid during the travel.

      Fiktionsbescheinigung

      A german issued preliminary residence permit (Fiktionsbescheinigung) according to § 81 Art. 4 is accepted as a residence permit regarding the information above.

      Residency not yet transfered to new passport

      Citizens of non-EU/EEA states, who plan on traveling to Iceland with a new passport, but their residency still hasn't been transfered over from their old passport, can still do so if they bring the old passport along that still contains their residence permit.

      Island gehört zum Schengen-Raum und zum Europäischen Wirtschaftsraum (EWR), d.h. Bürgerinnen und Bürger der EU/EFTA-Mitgliedsländer dürfen sich in Island ansässig machen, in Island arbeiten und leben. Dazu sind die entsprechenden geltenden Regelungen einzuhalten und Anmeldungen erforderlich.

      Wir bitten um Ihr Verständnis, dass die Botschaft keine Beratung zu einem Wohnortwechsel oder Umsiedlung nach Island anbieten kann. Wir weisen deshalb auf folgenden Institutionen und Informationsquellen hin und bitten Sie, sich auch mit den deutschen Behörden, ihrer Krankenkasse und ggf. Pensionskasse in Verbindung zu setzen.
